The revised Code was approved by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) at its seventy-ninth session in 2004, by the FAO Committee on Fisheries at its twenty-sixth session in 2005 and by the Governing Body of International Labour Organization (ILO) at its 293rd Session in 2005. It is divided into two parts: Part B - Safety and Health Requirements for the Construction and Equipment of Fishing Vessels, 2005. The revised version of part B of the Code is directed primarily towards shipbuilders and owners, containing requirements for the construction and equipment of fishing vessels.
